Quick read

How this works

Eight questions read your orientation — do you move by decisive turning points, or by gradual flow? — and eight read your quadrant of the cycle: emerging, building, sharing, or releasing. Where your strongest of each meet is one of eight moon-phase personalities. Answers never leave your device.
A luminous golden full moon at the centre of an arc of the eight moon phases, curving across a deep violet twilight sky scattered with stars — the whole lunation cycle as one glowing rhythm.
Two axes — how you move (by decisive turning points or by gradual flow) and where you are in the cycle (emerging, building, sharing, releasing) — read as the feeling of a moon phase, not your birth date.

Lunar Phase Assessment

Which moon phase are you?

Sixteen quick questions read the oldest rhythm there is — the lunar cycle. We find your orientation (do you move by decisive turning points or gradual flow?) and your quadrant of the cycle (emerging, building, sharing, releasing) — and match you to one of the eight moon-phase personalities. We never ask your birthday; this is your rhythm, not your sign.

The oldest clock we ever read

Long before horoscopes, people told time by the Moon. Every month it traces the same arc — dark and new, swelling to full, then thinning back to dark — and astrologers came to read its eight phases as eight ways of moving through any cycle, not just the month. A project, a relationship, a life all have the same shape: they begin, they build, they reach a peak and are shared, and then they wind down and release. Your lunar phase is the part of that arc where you come most alive — the rhythm you bring to everything you do.

This quiz finds your phase from two simple axes. The first is your orientation: whether you move by decisive turning points (the four sharp “quarter” phases) or by gradual flow (the four crescent and gibbous phases between them). The second is your quadrant — which season of the cycle is most you. Together they pinpoint one of the eight.

The two orientations

  • Threshold

Threshold energy moves in clear steps — fresh starts, decisive turns, definite endings. It marks a before and an after, and it would rather cross a line cleanly than drift across it.

  • Flow

Flow energy moves by gradual shading — momentum, accumulation, a current that is always quietly shifting. It builds and winds down by degrees rather than in sudden leaps.

The four quadrants

  • Emerging

The opening of the cycle — raw potential, instinct, and the courage to begin before anything is decided. The season of the seed.

  • Building

The climb — effort, structure, and the decisive crisis of making something real. The season of the work.

  • Sharing

The peak — fullness, awareness, relationship, and the urge to bring the light to others. The season of the harvest.

  • Releasing

The close — completion, reflection, distilling the meaning, and making peace with an ending. The season of the letting-go.

The eight moon-phase personalities

Around the cycle from the dark New Moon to the last sliver of the Waning Crescent — each phase a distinct way of moving through the world.

The Initiator

New Moon · Threshold Emerging

You begin on faith and find the path by walking it — pure potential, unafraid of the blank page.

The Striver

Waxing Crescent · Flow Emerging

You push a fragile new thing forward against the pull of the past — momentum earned, not given.

The Challenger

First Quarter · Threshold Building

You meet the crisis of action head-on and build structure out of resistance — the decisive turn.

The Perfecter

Waxing Gibbous · Flow Building

You refine relentlessly toward the fullness you can already picture — devotion to getting it right.

The Illuminator

Full Moon · Threshold Sharing

You bring things into the light and see them whole — clarity, relationship, the peak of awareness.

The Teacher

Waning Gibbous · Flow Sharing

You give away what the peak revealed — sharing, demonstrating, spreading the light outward.

The Reformer

Last Quarter · Threshold Releasing

You break down the form that has outlived its purpose — the crisis of conscience that clears the way.

The Mystic

Waning Crescent · Flow Releasing

You release, surrender, and quietly seed a future you may never see — the wisdom of the closing dark.

This is your rhythm, not your sign — where in any cycle you come most alive, read straight from your answers.

Frequently asked

What is the lunar phase personality system?

It comes from the lunation cycle — the roughly 29½-day round the Moon makes from dark New Moon to bright Full Moon and back. Astrologers have long read its eight phases (New, Waxing Crescent, First Quarter, Waxing Gibbous, Full, Waning Gibbous, Last Quarter, Waning Crescent) as eight ways of moving through any cycle: how you begin, build, peak, share and release. This quiz reads that rhythm in you and matches you to one of the eight.

Do I need to know my birthday or birth time?

No. Unlike a birth-chart "natal lunar phase" reading, this quiz scores your rhythm directly from your answers — it never asks your date of birth. It measures how you actually move through beginnings, work, peaks and endings, which is its own kind of signature.

How is this different from my Moon sign?

Your Moon sign (Cancer Moon, Aquarius Moon, and so on) describes the flavour of your emotional nature; your lunar phase describes your rhythm — where in a cycle you come most alive. They are two different layers. If you want the sign side, follow the link to the Big Three, which covers your Sun, Moon and Rising.

How long does the quiz take?

About four minutes. There are sixteen forced-choice questions — eight that read your orientation (decisive turning points versus gradual flow) and eight that read which quadrant of the cycle you lean into.

Can my result be a close call?

Often your top two are close, and that nuance is real — the runner-up colours your rhythm. The result shows your full orientation and quadrant breakdown so you can see the blend, not just the winner.

Is my data saved anywhere?

No. Answers stay on your device. Your orientation and quadrant scores are encoded into the result URL only so the page can show your breakdown; nothing is sent to a server.
