In plain words

The short version

We collect what you give us and standard usage data, use cookies (including for analytics and advertising), and rely on a few trusted third-party providers. We do not sell your personal information. You can access, correct, or delete your data at any time — the details are spelled out below.

A small wooden lockbox on a quiet study desk, a brass key resting beside it, a leather-bound ledger nearby, indirect morning light from a high window
Trust as discipline — your data kept in plain view of the rules that govern it.

This Privacy Policy explains how We’re All Unique (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and protects information when you visit our website and use our services. We aim to keep this document plain and honest. If anything is unclear, please reach out via our Contact page or email us at support@wereallunique.com.

The Who Are U? reading

Who Are U?: your answers, your payment, your email

Who Are U? is our optional paid personality reading. Because a paid, deeply personal test can seem hard to square with our promise to keep almost nothing, here is exactly how the three kinds of information involved are handled. They are deliberately kept separate, and only one of them — your payment — leaves your control by necessity.

1. Your test answers — never stored on our servers

Everything you write in the free-text sections, and every quiz answer, stays in your browser for the duration of your session (in your browser’s session storage). To create your reading, this information is sent to our analysis providers as a de-identified payload — it carries no name, email, or account. It is never written to a database or file on our servers, never logged, and never linked to your identity. Your downloadable PDF or HTML copy lives only on your device. If you close the tab before saving it, it is gone — that is by design, and it is why we ask you to download your report before you leave.

2. Payment information — handled by Polar

Payments are processed by Polar (polar.sh), acting as Merchant of Record. Polar collects and processes your payment details — such as your card information and billing details — under its own privacy policy; we never see or store your full card data. We receive only a payment reference (a checkout or order identifier) so we can confirm a payment, unlock your reading, and, if necessary, issue a refund. That reference is payment metadata, not your test answers.

3. Your email address — only if you ask us to send a copy (opt-in)

Emailing the reading to yourself is entirely optional and off by default. If you choose it, you confirm a consent checkbox, and we use your address for a single purpose: to send you that one copy through our delivery provider, Resend. The reading is relayed and not stored. Your address is added to a mailing list only if you separately and explicitly opt in to occasional updates — a second, independent checkbox that is unchecked by default. You can withdraw that consent at any time through our Contact page.

Our lawful bases are: performing our contract with you (delivering the reading and the email copy you request), and your consent (the optional mailing list). We apply purpose limitation and data minimization throughout — most plainly, by not storing the test answers at all. Your rights of access, correction, deletion, objection, and complaint (described below) apply to the payment and email data we hold.

Community comments

Comments & reactions: what’s public, what stays private

Some pages let you leave a short community note or react to a result. These comments are user-generated content that publishes instantly — there is no pre-moderation — so anything you write is public the moment you post it. Please keep it kind; notes are for fun and self-reflection, not professional advice.

What is shown publicly

The nickname you choose and the text of your note are public, alongside any up/down reactions. Pick a nickname that doesn’t reveal more than you want it to.

Your email — collected, but never published

When you post a comment we ask for your email address. It is never displayed publicly and is never shown to other visitors. We store it privately so we can contact you about your contribution if needed and, as the operator, keep an occasional line of communication with our community. We do not sell it or share it with advertisers. To have your email and comments removed, email support@wereallunique.com.

Anti-spam & reporting

To keep the space usable without accounts, we apply automated spam and abuse checks. For that purpose we keep a one-way cryptographic hash of your IP address — the raw IP is never stored — used only for rate-limiting and abuse prevention. You can report a comment with its “Report” link; enough independent reports automatically hide a note from public view.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly

When you create an account, use a tool (such as our birth chart calculator), or contact us, you may provide information like your email address, username, birth date, birth time, and birth location. Some tools require this information to produce a result; providing it is voluntary, but certain features will not work without it.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, we automatically collect certain technical information when you visit this site. This includes your IP address, browser type and version, device type, operating system, referring URL, pages viewed, time spent on pages, and standard server log data. This information helps us operate the site, diagnose problems, and understand how this site is being used.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies (such as local storage) for things like keeping you signed in, remembering your preferences, measuring traffic, and, where applicable, serving relevant advertising. See the “Cookies” section below for details and how to opt out.

2. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide and improve the features of this site.
  • Generate personalized results such as birth charts and compatibility readings.
  • Understand how visitors use the site, through aggregated analytics.
  • Maintain the security and integrity of the service.
  • Communicate with you when you contact us or when we need to notify you about account or service changes.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your email address or account data with advertisers.

We do not sell your personal information.
How we use information

3. Analytics

We may use third-party analytics services, including Google Analytics, to understand how the site is used in aggregate (for example, how many people visit a page, how long they stay, and which links they click). These services set their own cookies and may process your IP address and usage data in line with their own privacy policies. We configure analytics to respect IP anonymization where available.

4. Advertising

We may display third-party advertising, including through Google AdSense and other advertising networks. As part of this:

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies (such as the DoubleClick cookie) to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site and other websites.
  • Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the internet.
  • Third-party networks may collect information about your activity on this and other websites to provide measurement services, target ads, and understand ad performance.

You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings or the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out page. You may still see ads, but they will be less personalized.

Advertising partners are solely responsible for the content of their ads. We do not endorse, and are not responsible for, products or services offered by advertisers.

5. Cookies

We use the following categories of cookies:

  • Essential cookies — required for the site to function, such as keeping you signed in.
  • Preference cookies — remember settings such as your preferred language or theme.
  • Analytics cookies — help us understand aggregate usage patterns.
  • Advertising cookies — used by third-party ad networks to show relevant ads and measure performance.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies, but disabling essential cookies may break parts of the site.

6. Third-Party Services

We rely on trusted third-party service providers to operate, including:

  • Hosting and content delivery (such as Vercel and Cloudflare).
  • Database and authentication (such as Supabase).
  • Analytics (such as Google Analytics).
  • Advertising (such as Google AdSense and similar networks).
  • Payment processing (Polar.sh), as Merchant of Record for the Who Are U? reading, which handles payment data under its own privacy policy. It receives your payment and billing details; we receive only a payment reference.
  • Email delivery (Resend), used only when you opt in to email yourself a copy of your Who Are U? reading. It receives your email address and the reading content for that single send; if you separately opt in to updates, your address is added to a mailing list.
  • AI analysis providers (such as Groq, Cerebras, and Google) generate your Who Are U? reading. They receive only a de-identified payload of your answers — no name, email, or account — and we do not store what is sent or returned.

These providers only receive the information necessary to perform their role, and each operates under its own privacy policy.

7. Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Account information is kept until you delete your account, after which it is removed or anonymized within a reasonable time.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate information.
  • Request deletion of your personal information.
  • Object to or restrict certain types of processing.
  • Opt out of personalized advertising.
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at support@wereallunique.com or reach out through our Contact page. We will respond within a reasonable time, and in line with applicable law.

9. Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

10. International Users

This site is operated globally, and data may be processed in countries other than your own. By using the service, you consent to the transfer of your information to jurisdictions that may have different data protection rules than your home country. We apply appropriate safeguards in line with applicable law.

11. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information, including encrypted transport (HTTPS) and access controls on our database. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top and, where appropriate, notify users through the site. Continued use of this site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

13. Contact Us

We’re All Unique is an independent project, and is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. For any privacy-related question, request, or concern, email us at support@wereallunique.com or visit our Contact page. We aim to respond within a few business days.
