A note from the person behind this site

Why We’re All Unique exists, in plain language.

My name’s Asım. I built We’re All Unique alone, between rest cycles, in a small apartment in Konya, Türkiye. I have ME/CFS — myalgic encephalomyelitis, also called chronic fatigue syndrome. It isn’t “being tired.” It’s a neurological illness that turns ordinary things into mountains.

On a good day, I work for two or three hours and the rest of the day goes to recovery. On a bad day, I can’t finish a paragraph without losing the start of it. I’ve lost years to this. I’ve lost most of my friendships to it too — most people don’t know how to stay close to someone who keeps cancelling.

I needed something to do that didn’t require me to leave the house, didn’t require me to be predictable, and didn’t require me to perform being well. So I built this. Astrology and psychology had lived in two separate rooms in my mind for years — symbolic on one side, scientific on the other. I wanted them to share the same room. I needed a quiet place to understand myself, and there wasn’t one. So this is one.

I’m not writing from some place of being healed. I’m still ill. But I get to choose how I orient. Most days I choose curiosity over despair. Most days I choose to find what’s true in both ancient symbols and modern frameworks instead of dismissing either. Most days I choose to make something useful while I’m here. Some days that choice is harder than others — and that’s honest too.

If you found this site, maybe you’re going through something of your own. Maybe a chronic illness, maybe a long stretch of loneliness, maybe just a season where the world feels off-key. I hope something here helps. Even a small reflection. Even a single sentence that lands. You’re not alone in being unique. We’re all unique.

This site is free, ad-supported, and one person’s project. If something here has been useful to you and you can spare a couple of dollars, you can support me on Patreon. It helps me keep the lights on and keep building.
