Leo and The Chariot

The Chariot is the card of directed will: two sphinxes of opposing force — light and dark, conscious and unconscious, solar and lunar — harnessed not by reins but by the sheer command presence of the charioteer. There is no physical restraint in the traditional image; the driver holds a wand, not a whip or rope. The vehicle moves because the driver has mastered the inner conflict that the two animals represent. Leo and The Chariot share the energy of the tropical Cancer season (The Chariot's traditional astrological correspondence), which may seem incongruous.
